Summer-Perfect Craft: Party Pinwheels
Delight adults and kids alike with these easy and nostalgic paper pinwheels.
[MUSIC] Giant Pinwheel. You'll need: ruler, craft knife, colored poster board, two 12x12 inch pieces of scrapbook paper, permanent glue stick, 5 reinforcement labels, paper punch, drill and 3/16" bit, 1/2 inch wood dowel, stop nut, 2 nuts, 5 #8 flat washers, 2-1/2 inch machine screw, two 1/2 inch wood beads. Cut poster board to a 15x15 inch square. Mark center. Cut two 12x12 inch pieces of scrapbook paper on the diagonal. Coat one side of poster board with permanent glue stick. Adhere the triangles of scrapbook paper to the poster board. Place reinforcement label at center. Cut out the small circle in the center. Bisect square with ruler. Measure in 6 inches fro outside corners; lightly mark. Cut on marked lines. Repeat on other diagonal. Pinch hole in each corner, about 1 inch from the cut line. Place reinforcement labels over holes. Place a washer on the machine screw. Drill a hole about 1 inch from the top of dowel. Bend punches corners toward center. Insert screw through center of the pinwheel. Place a washer and nut on back of the pinwheel. Continue to assemble the pinwheel in this order: washer, wood bead, washer, wood bead, washer, dowel, nut , stop nut. Spin!
