A coat of black paint followed by a colorful sponged design instantly transforms regular ceramic eggs into an easy Easter craft that will have you reaching for the stars. Create a set of galaxy eggs and display them as unique Easter decor. These no-dye Easter eggs can be made in under an hour. What You'll Need Equipment / Tools 1 Sponge 1 Paint brush Materials 1 Ceramic eggs 1 Acrylic craft paint Instructions Paint Eggs Paint ceramic eggs with a coat of solid black paint. We found it is easiest to paint half of an egg, letting the egg rest on the unpainted half while the paint dries. When the first side is dry, flip the egg and paint the other side. When the black paint is dry, use a dry sponge to apply a small amount of purple paint to the egg; apply the paint in 2-3 small areas, using the sponge to blend the paint into the black background. When the purple paint is dry, repeat the same technique with blue, green, and pink paints. Add White Splatter Paint When the sponged galaxy pattern is completely dry, finish the eggs with white splatter paint. Dip the end of a bristled paintbrush in white acrylic paint and hold it a few inches from the egg's surface. Pull your finger across the top of the bristles in the direction away from the egg—this will cause the paint to splatter in the direction of the galaxy egg. This technique can get messy, so we recommend working over newspaper or another protective background before starting. If you're using thick paint and having trouble getting the paint to splatter, water down the white paint. Let the finished galaxy Easter eggs dry completely.
