Conceal Dark Circles

Are dark circles a sign of poor sleep? Not necessarily, says Ranella Hirsch, M.D., a dermatologist in Boston.

While skimping on slumber can lead to puffiness and unflattering shadows, it's not the only cause. Surprisingly, seasonal allergies may be to blame.

"Rubbing your eyes irritates the skin in the area and can lead to melanin buildup," she says. If you suspect that's the case, consult your doctor about overall relief and tackle the cosmetic issue with an eye cream that contains gentle brighteners such as vitamin C.
