In a small study, well-rested volunteers were 25 percent less sensitive to pain than those who were mildly sleep-deprived.
One trick for getting 40 winks: Block out more time than you need. Study subjects who agreed to spend 10 hours a night in bed dozed nearly 9 hours, while those who followed their regular nighttime routine slept just a little more than 7 hours (and were tired the next day).
Give yourself a bedtime and stick to it!
