When carving your rosebud pattern, we recommend cutting out the central flower section first and working your way outward. Carving patterns from the center out places less stress on the pumpkin shell, which equals less risk of breakage. For additional stability, leave cutout sections in place until you've finished carving the entire design.
1. Sign in to BHG.com to access our rosebud stencil pattern. Print out the pattern, and tape it against the side of your cleaned-out pumpkin.
2. With a wooden skewer or needle tool, reproduce the design onto the pumpkin skin by piercing along the stencil lines, creating tightly spaced holes. Tear off the pattern after transferring all lines to the pumpkin.
3. With a skinny, serrated crafts blade, carve the design by sawing gently along the needle holes. Push on carved sections gently from inside the pumpkin to prod them outward.
4. Place a battery-operated candle inside your rosebud pumpkin for a romantic glow.
