If you're looking for a fun-loving addition to your Halloween porch display, this is just the carved pumpkin for you! This stencil's broad smile stretches beautifully across a wide pumpkin. Resize the pattern with a photocopier as needed to fit your gourd.

To carve:

1. Clean out your pumpkin, scooping out seeds and pulp with an ice cream scoop.

2. Tape the pattern to the pumpkin, and use a pushpin to make closely spaced pin pricks along the stencil lines, piercing the paper and the pumpkin's surface.

3. Use a thin knife (linoleum or wood-cutting knives work well) to carve the pattern, following the pin pricks as guidelines.

4. Discard excess pumpkin pieces, and light the pumpkin's interior with an electric candle.
