How to Make A Pumpkin Hat

Paint It

This pumpkin hat is a cute way for kids to get in the Halloween spirit. It's also a great way for them to contribute to their Halloween pumpkin costume! Begin this DIY Halloween craft by covering your work space. Then paint the outside of the paper bowl orange and the cork green. Set aside both to dry completely.

Glue It

While the paint is drying, cut out a leaf from green cardstock. Once the paint is dry, draw lines from the center of the bowl to the edges using an orange marker for the pumpkin veins. It might help to have a real pumpkin on hand to mimic how the pumpkin looks. Attach the leaf to the center of the top of the bowl using glue. Then glue the cork on top of the leaf to create the stem. Allow the glue to dry before moving on.

    Wear It

Once the glue is dry, wrap a green chenille stem around the cork. Spiral an end around each finger to add twists. If you need to, secure the chenille stem to the cork with glue. To turn the bowl into a hat, punch a hole on each side. Cut a length of elastic cord to fit around the child's head, and thread one end through each of the holes. Secure with a knot, and your pumpkin hat is complete!
