Giant Chain Fern

The largest fern native to North America, giant chain fern is frequently found in moist woodlands along the West Coast. In the garden it forms a graceful 5-foot-tall clump of pretty soft green foliage. The graceful fronds pair well with a multitude of shade-loving plants, and it also can be grown in containers. Plant giant chain fern in part sun or full shade and moist soil. It thrives next to streams and in moist bogs. It doesn't tolerate frost, so grow it in a protected location.
