Philodendron
Whether you choose upright or trailing/climbing types, philodendrons are one of the easiest houseplants you can possibly grow. You can train them up a trellis or simply leave them to their own devices; philodendrons will survive no matter what.
Snake Plant
With its stately upright foliage that almost looks artificial, the snake plant (also called mother-in-law’s tongue) adds great architectural form to a room and complements all styles of decor.
Dracaena
These plants are grown primarily for their upright, straplike foliage that is either green or variegated. In the right conditions, the plants eventually reach 5 to 6 feet tall, making them perfect for adding life to a corner of the living room, dining room, or den.
Ficus
A versatile and tough group of plants often grown indoors, ficus comes in all sorts of forms, ranging from creeping vine to giant tree. And even though this cousin of the edible fig is a tropical plant, it survives in a wide variety of indoor conditions.
Peperomia
Sometimes referred to as baby rubber plant, peperomias often have thick, fleshy leaves. There are well over 1,000 species of peperomia so there is bound to be at least one that would grow well in your home.
China Doll
Often grown as a houseplant for its abundant glossy-green, fernlike leaves, China doll is a fast-growing plant that tolerates a variety of indoor conditions. Although it doesn’t bloom indoors, a mature plant will produce large trumpet-shape white flowers when grown outdoors.
