This fanciful fairy house is pieced together using a recycled plastic jug accented with natural elements, including a twig door and pebbled roof. Feel free to paint the house however you desire—we used a textured spray paint to blend this tiny house into its wooded landscape.

What You Need

Materials

  • Plastic container
  • Small pebbles
  • Small twigs
  • Texture finish spray paint
  • Medium-grain sandpaper
  • Cardboard

Tools

  • Hot-glue gun
  • Crafts knife
  • Scissors

Step 1: Prep Container

Make sure plastic container is clean and free of stickers or gummy residue. Roughen the surface with sandpaper so the paint will adhere better. Spray paint container according to can instructions, and let dry completely.

Step 2: Make Door

Cut a piece of cardboard to desired size and shape of door. Break twigs into pieces that are slightly longer than height of door, and hot glue the twigs to the cardboard. Let dry. Once dry, trim twigs to desired shape of door.

Step 3: Attach Door

Hot glue door to front of house.

Step 4: Make Window

Use crafts knife to cut a hole for the window. Border window with pebbles by hot gluing them around the edge.

Step 5: Decorate Roof

Decorate roof by hot gluing pebbles to neck of container.
