What You Need

  • 3 X 3-1/2 X 5-inch mailbox
  • Measuring tape
  • Fabric
  • Hot glue gun
  • 3/8-inch round dowel
  • Sandpaper
  • (4) 1.5-inch valve wheel handles
  • Matchsticks
  • Craft paint

  • Miter box and saw
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Paint brush

Step 1: Add Fabric

To make the wagon's "cover", measure outside of mailbox and cut your choice of fabric to wrap around the curved top portion of the mailbox. Use hot glue to attach fabric to mailbox.

Step 2: Make Axels

For the wheel's axels, measure and cut two 4-inch dowels with miter box saw. Use sandpaper to smooth out the edges of the cut dowels.

Step 3: Construct Wheels

Attach one valve wheel handle to each end of the two dowels. Do so by pushing the dowel into the center hole of each wheel. Glue mailbox to the top of the dowels.

Step 4: Make Ladder

To make the ladder, measure and cut 5 1-inch matchstick pieces.

Place two full matchsticks 1 inch apart from each other. Glue cut 1-inch matchsticks on top of spaced full matchsticks every 1/2 inch from the top. Spray paint ladder if desired. Once dry, glue ladder to inside of mailbox lid.
