Quiz: How Well Do You Know Your Yoga Poses?

Yoga has a variety of benefits, thanks to the poses themselves and the emphasis on controlled breathing. Practicing yoga can help reduce stress, a big plus when you’re dealing with the fast-paced world. In one study, university faculty, staff, and graduate students in stressful training programs took part in a 10-week yoga program. Afterward, they reported meaningful improvement in perceived stress. Yoga may also help with your balance and flexibility. In another study, this one looking at male college athletes, a 10-week yoga program resulted in significant gains in both measures, compared with a group that didn’t do any yoga.

You may already practice yoga, but how well do you really know your asanas? Do you know all the proper names for the poses and what they accomplish? Test your yoga know-how by seeing if you can identify the following:

Chaturanga Dandasana
