Makeover Madness: Meet Diane
Blogger Diane of In My Own Style was a finalist in the BHG Makeover Madness tournament. See what she did for her final project challenge.
I had to take the dresser apart to put it back together the way I wanted it to. So that was kind of a little hairy. [MUSIC] I had to unassemble the drawer and its IKEA pieces. I hope I don't mess it up. [MUSIC] I've been doing DIY decorating for over 30 years. I started out in retail display. People ask you why would you do DIY when you can just buy it? If you buy a tray already made, but I can take the tray, I can paint, I can change the knobs, I can do it to make it totally unique for me. The project that got me into the challenge in the first place was a vintage file cabinet. So, I'm gonna try to make this look like a vintage file cabinet. I wanted to show people that you can do anything. If you have a vision you can make anything. Even though plain, it's a drawer cabinet. You don't have to leave anything as is. You can like, rethink it. Like think out of the box. I made it as like a mobile desk that could moved anywhere in your house. I like to work outside, so I could make, could use it outside in the summer time. It could also be like a child's desk because it's small and with the monograms on the back you know, the letters, it's just kind of fun for a kid. Why should my dresser win over the other bloggers? I really like did a IKEA hack on it. I was sawing and cutting and I changed the legs, I changed the way it works. I made it a fake front, did all sorts of DIY on it. [MUSIC] [MUSIC]
