I love our living room because of the airiness the space brings to the rest of the house. We decided that since this was our only "family room," we would opt for our main piece of furniture (the couch) to be more practical than fashionable. Its fabric is kid-friendly and the color hides imperfections easily. The white walls help the space feel more modern and minimal. Also, houseplants really help a space feel lived in and lively!

My favorite space is a corner of our bedroom where I created a window seat. I use my favorite pillows and textiles to make the place cozy and fill the corner with color. I love the fresh breezes that come in through the windows and even the sounds of the Mariachi music that my neighbors across the street often play -- it makes me feel at home. Life can be so "go-go-go," and it's important to have a place to have a quiet moment.

My eclectic style is all about layers. In our kitchen, the white walls and finishes provide the perfect backdrop for some personality. We custom designed and built the island for the space. I love the contrast of the green against all of the white, and the live edge top came from a tree in our very own backyard. No space is complete to me without a colorful rug, and this antique Turkish kilim is the perfect finishing touch.

My favorite space is our loft's living room! Even when you're renting, you can make updates to your space! I had the existing window seat cushions recovered in linen to make them feel like "ours." And the hideous glass tile around our fireplace? Now hidden by a faux-fireplace front that we simply slid into place! These small investments made our loft go from "builder grade" to "bespoke"!

I've learned that I like to have a cozy bedroom. We have one dark wall and dark drapes, and it really brings the room together. In years past, our bedroom has leaned a little too feminine, and since it's my husband's room too, I wanted it to be both masculine and feminine. So we let the wood windows and blinds act as another layer of their own and made it playful by mixing up neutral, patterned sheets.

My living room is my favorite because it best reflects my personal style. Its bones are light, bright, and pretty classic, but the accessories pack a punch. While it doesn't necessarily appear to be kid-friendly, there are baskets throughout that store toys, and the chest that we use as a coffee table has tons of storage. And my black and white $12 art above the couch fills the space but doesn't compete with the colorful bookshelves.

Scott and I moved recently, and while we're working on pulling together our current living room, we'd be remiss to say that we don't think of our former living room. Every item was selected to be pet-friendly, from the microfiber on our couch to the FLOR tiles as our rug. The color palette was cheery yet soothing, and we stuck to our favorites hues of mint and dandelion to avoid visual clutter. It was the epitome of the word "home" for us.

My kitchen is my absolute favorite space in the house. It is the heart of our home, where my family gathers and where memories are made over morning cups of coffee, cooking dinners, and baking cookies. My favorite features of the kitchen are the open shelves, the mix of textures, and of course, the coffee station!

One of my favorite spaces is our living room. I always suggest upholstering your larger investment pieces in outdoor quality fabric. This provides you the ease of cleaning up after inevitable spills. I also like mixing new and vintage pieces, which gives the space a more collected feel. Our brass trunk end table also provides for toy storage when our daughter is ready to play.

We first fell in love with our rental home after seeing the living space. With all of its large windows, natural light, and gorgeous backyard trees viewed from the windows, it feels like a mini oasis. I painted the walls white so that I would be able to showcase colors in the rug, pillows, and art. It's a clean space with whimsical touches.
