Repurposed Garage Door Art Display

Create affordable artwork by repurposing an old garage door panel to fill empty wall space.

Repurpose a rustic garage door panel found at an antiques shop or flea market with this cute DIY project. A fresh coat of paint, some simple office supplies, and cute accents turn the piece from garbage-ready to gorgeous. Plus, it's the perfect spot to add seasonal decor every few months.

Amazing Flea Market Makeovers

What You Need

  • Rustic garage door panel
  • Sandpaper
  • Damp rag
  • Paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Tack
  • Bulldog clips
  • Artwork or decorations

Step 1: Prep the Door

Sand off the old layers of paint, and clean the glass on the panel with a damp rag. Paint the wood a color that complements your decor. We used a blue-gray color.

Step 2: Attach Clips

Tack bulldog clips (available at office supply stores) onto the panel. We placed one clip in each frame of the door, but you can space them however you'd like.

Step 3: Decorate

Decorate as desired by hanging art or accents from each clip. Here, letters that spell "cheers" hang from the panel to dress up a dinner party. Swap out decorations seasonally or on a whim.
