Minimalist Leaning Mirror

Inspired by a Scandinavian floor mirror on Pinterest, Erin of Francoise et Moi decided to re-create the stilted style on a budget. She used handrails to form the legs of the leaning design, safely nestling an inexpensive Target door mirror between them. We're not sure which is more eye-catching—the mirror's modern silhouette or its bright coral color!

Built-In Bookcase Wall

Upgrade your storage situation without calling a contractor by creating the look of built-ins with inexpensive bookcases. As Rita from Crane Concept learned from her Target hack, built-in bookcases not only add drama to a room, but also often make it look larger. She considered all the details, too, from extending the height to painting the back panels to filling in the shelf holes.

Faux Marble Bar Cart

Favorite Blogger Bar Carts

A bar cart, like this brass and glass version Lauren Elizabeth found at Target, offers such versatile storage. You can decorate it with small home accessories, turn it into a mobile office, or use it to display bottles and glassware as intended. Before setting up her bar cart in the living room, the House of Hire blogger made one tiny tweak to the bottom shelf using marble contact paper.

Dipped Accent Stool

There are few pieces of furniture as multifunctional as a stool. Karisa of Petite Modern Life needed something less bulky than a bookcase and smaller than a table to fill an empty spot in her entryway, so she relocated an unused Target stool—but not before giving it a mini makeover with metallic copper spray paint.

Geometric Globe Pendant

A geometric Pottery Barn light fixture was the inspiration for this Target hack. For less than $40, Amy of Atta Girl Say re-created the globe-style pendant by attaching basic lamp parts to a decorative brass figurine from Target. According to her tutorial, the trickiest part was attaching the light socket to the wire figure, but once you figure that out, you're golden—or, well, brass.

Pretty Painted Bookcase

FAVE FURNITURE MAKEOVERS

Target hacks don't have to be difficult. Shonee from Hawthorn and Main turned a basic bookcase into a rustic-modern storage piece by using leftover wood pieces to frame the front. She also created a chic chevron pattern on the back panel using painters tape and spray paint, making the entire piece pop.

Industrial Piping Light Fixture

Moving is a great excuse to attempt a decorating hack. This caged light once hung like a pendant in her daughter's bedroom, but when Taryn of Design Dining Diapers began decorating her son's new bedroom, she envisioned it as a wall fixture. Spray-painted PVC tubing conceals the plug-in light's wire, but you could also use oil-rubbed bronze or shiny copper piping.

Chainmail Lamp

The best part of DIY home decor is that you can customize it to match your aesthetic. That's what Leah of Simple.Home.Blessing did when crafting a knock-off chainmail lamp for her entryway. She didn't care for the gold overlay of the original, so she covered a Target lamp with chains made from black metal ornament hangers.

Versailles Parquet-Top Table

In its first reincarnation, this simple student desk from Target became a glam console table complete with a faux marble top and shiny gold legs. When Leslie of Paper Daisy Design wasn't feeling the trendy styling anymore, she flipped it again, this time adding a wooden top with a handcrafted parquet pattern. She also made the legs less ostentatious, covering up the metallic shine with a brushed metal finish.
