What You Need

  • Basket
  • Foam board
  • Pencil
  • Ruler
  • Scissors
  • Transparent tape
  • Acrylic paint, assorted colors
  • Foam brushes, one for each color

Step 1: Trace Stamps

To create stamps, mark patterns on a piece of foam board with a pencil and ruler. We created triangle-shape pieces, but you can trace any desired pattern. Cut out stamps with scissors.

Step 2: Create Stamp Pad

Cut a piece of foam larger than each stamp piece. Attach to the smaller stamp piece with tape.

Step 3: Paint and Press

With your foam brushes, dab a thin layer of acrylic paint onto each small stamp piece. For the project above, we used four different paint colors—yellow, green, blue, and orange—but feel free to use any color scheme you like. Gently press stamps onto the basket, alternating colors as you go.

Step 4: Add Accents

With a foam brush, paint any other decorative accents you'd like. We outlined the top and middle of our basket with colorful stripes, but try adding other shapes, lines, and designs to get a unique look.
