Stack on style with this tiered fringe pendant light. The showy project looks high-end, but it costs little to make.
Lighting can make or break a room. Turn heads (in a good way!) with this dazzling DIY pendant project. Our fringe light fixture is the optimal blend of chic, modern, and fun. It's perfect for dressing up a small space or making a dramatic overhead statement in a bedroom.
You'll need a handful of DIY supplies for this project, including embroidery hoops, a wire lampshade frame, and fringe. We used a different color for each tier of our light, but a monochromatic or ombre shade would look just as sleek. We'll walk you through every step of the DIY process, and provide expert pointers along the way.
Separate the inner and outer circles of both the 6-inch and 8-inch embroidery hoops. Set the outer hoops aside. You'll use the solid inner hoops for this project.
Place the inner hoop in the center of the lampshade form, and mark the placement of the spokes on the hoop. Drill a 3/16-inch hole at each mark. Repeat the process with the smaller hoop.
Unravel a length of fringe. Attach it with hot glue to the shade form. Cut off any excess fringe. Repeat the process with different colors on both the inner and outer embroidery hoops. Be careful not to glue over any of the drilled holes.
Place a ring around each spoke of the wire form. Repeat, adding a ring through each hole of both embroidery hoops.
Measure and cut six equal lengths of chain. Attach a chain to each of the three rings on the small embroidery hoop; connect to the larger embroidery hoop. Repeat process to connect the larger embroidery hoop to the wire form. Glue the rings to the wire form to hold in place. Remove fringe thread, and attach to a pendant lamp kit.
