How to Create a Copper Pipe Floor Lamp

Every room deserves a bit of sparkle. Create a floor lamp from copper pipes with this stylish DIY design from Jenni Radosevich of I Spy DIY.

Jenni Radosevich of I Spy DIY saw a tubular tripod lamp created by a design studio online and figured out this DIY version using copper pipes. Create one yourself with our step-by-step instructions.

Tools and Materials

  • Copper spray paint
  • E6000 industrial adhesive
  • ½-inch copper pipe cut into 7 pieces:
    • 5 feet long (3)
    • 4 feet long (1)
    • 6 inches long (1)
    • 4 inches long (2)
  • ½-inch elbow joints (4)
  • ½-inch end caps (2)
  • ½-inch cross fitting (1)
  • Lampshade
  • Lamp wiring kit

Step 1: Paint and Prep

Spray the lampshade with copper-color paint; let dry. Lay out the copper pieces as pictured. Connect the copper pieces to ensure they fit together properly (pipes will fit inside elbows, end caps, and cross fitting), then take apart. Thread the electrical cord through the center pieces from the bottom up.

Step 2: Assemble

Reassemble the pieces using industrial adhesive. As soon as you finish gluing, stand the lamp up, and let the glue dry overnight.

Step 3: Wire

Connect the cord to the light socket, consulting an electrician if needed.
