Color: Where Do You Start?
With plenty of ways to decorate with color, how do you know where to start? BHG editor Eddie Ross offers a few smart pointers.
When looking for color inspiration to paint your home, I always try to start off with something that I love. Maybe it's a carpet that I've inherited. So I'll be pulling out colors from the carpet. Or maybe it's fabric that I have for window treatments. It's always easier to start off with a color palate instead of trying to start fresh. Try starting off with three colors. Maybe you're starting off with a cream, you're starting off with a color and then you're starting off with a darker neutral. Those three then call all work together within your decorating scheme. Then you can add in more of a pop of color by pillows, lamps, lampshades, a carpet. The best advice I can give to anyone when they're either decorating a full house or just a single room. Room is to create mood boards. Put up your paint chips, put up your fabric samples. Put up your pieces of furniture and carpet that you know will be in this rooms because just as long as it all works together, you're sure to have a successful project. [MUSIC]
