Incorporate a Large Swirl
To create a dramatic effect, create a wavelike swirl to span the entire page. Construct the swirl using card stock. For an extra touch, use your sewing machine to stitch the swirl to the page. Place photos with and around the swirl to highlight it.

Stamp the Stars
To get this look, stamp star shapes onto card stock then also use the stamp as a pattern. Flip over the patterned paper, stamp the design on the back, and trim. To enhance ho-hum chipboard, sand the edges or apply paint or fun stamps.

With a lot of ocean in the main photo, there was plenty of room to add tape strips and acrylic letters to the page, which adds color. Chipboard shapes cozy up to the edge to complete the casual look.
