Make This DIY Paper Wreath
Use paper dye and an old cookbook to create a unique and beautiful paper wreath.
Here's how to great a unique one of kind wreath using pages from an old cookbook. You will need paper to cover your work surface, a cutting mat, a piece of cardboard, three and nine inch in diameter embroidery hoops, a pencil, a crafts knife, dyed book pages, a glue stick, scissors, and a hot glue gun. To make the wreath form, trace the larger embroidery hoop onto the cardboard. Center the smaller embroidery hoop inside the circle and trace it too. Using a crafts knife, carefully cut out around both circles. Carefully punch out the wreath form you have made. Next, cover the wreath form with glue. Position dyed pages to cover the form, and press them down. Flip the wreath over, and trim the excess paper with a crafts knife. To make the paper cones, first trim the dyed pages into rectangles ranging in size 5 by 4 inches to 2 by 4 inches. Then roll each rectangle from one corner to another, and secure it with a dab of hot glue. Repeat the process to make about 60 cones in different shades and sizes. Starting with the largest longest cones, hot glue them around the wreath letting about two to three inches extend past the outside edge. Continue gluing on the largest cones until the wreath is mostly covered. Then glue on medium sized and small cones in the gaps until the entire wreath is covered. Don't forget to vary the colors. Glue a ribbon onto the back of the wreath and hang your one-of-a-kind creation.
