Slouchy Crochet Basket

Materials:

T-shirt yarn made from jersey knit fabric Size L crochet hook

Assemble the Basket:

Ch 6, join with a sl st to create a loop. Work the first round in the loop.

Rnd 1: 8 sc in loop. Join with sl st.

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st. Join with sl st. (16 sc)

Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in same st, sc in next st, (2 sc in next st, sc in next st) around. Join with sl st. (24 sc)

Rnd 4: Ch 1, sc in same st, sc in next 2 sts, (2 sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts) around. Join with sl st. (32 sc)

Rnd 5: Ch 1, sc in same st, sc in next 3 sts, (2 sc in next st, sc in next 3 sts) around. Join with sl st. (40 sc)

Rnd 6: Ch 1, sc in same st, sc in next 4 sts, (2 sc in next st, sc in next 4 sts) around. Join with sl st. (48 sc) Circle should be roughly 10 inches wide now.

Continue increasing until basket is desired width then start the first row of the body of the basket.

1st round of sides: Ch 1, sc around in front loops only. Join with sl st.

2nd round of sides: Ch 1, sc around in both loops. Join with sl st.

Repeat 2nd round of sides until your basket reaches the desired height.
