Make your next dinner party extra special with these gorgeous velvet napkin rings. A simple folding technique is all it takes to make these DIY napkin rings. They can be sized to fit any napkin or try making them larger for a pretty package topper.

Try making a succulent napkin ring.

What You'll Need

  • 1 1/2" velvet ribbon
  • Ruler
  • Scissors
  • Hot-glue gun

Step 1: Make the Ring

For napkin ring, cut a 3-inch piece of ribbon, form loop, and hot-glue ends together. This can be sized to any napkin. We chose to use velvet ribbon but this technique works with other thick ribbons. Try patterned, metallic, or silk ribbons.

Step 2: Add the Bow

For bow tie, cut 8 inches of ribbon, form loop, flatten, and hot-glue ends together. Cut a little over 3 inches of ribbon (to allow for slight overlap) for center of bow tie. Pinch flattened loop loosely in middle, wrap cut ribbon around it, and hot-glue ends together in back. Hot-glue bow tie to napkin ring.
