What you need

Tools

  • Edge punch
  • Hot glue gun

Materials

  • Corrugated cardboard
  • Toilet paper tubes
  • Acrylic craft paint
  • Colored cardstock
  • Adhesive dots

How to do it

Step 1 Cardboard discs

Cut your corrugated cardboard into three discs. One disc will be 12-inches in diameter, one will be 9-inches, and one will be 5-inches. Paint them on each side. Let dry. It may take two coats to completely cover the cardboard. Once the painted discs are dry, lightly mark the center of each disc on both sides. Place a toilet paper tube at the center. Lightly trace around it with pencil. Repeat this on each side of the discs.

Step 2 Attach tubes

Starting with the 5-inch disc (which will be the base), use the outline of the tube as a guideline for the hot glue. Place the tube on top of the glue circle, and add more glue to seal the seam. Attach the bottom of the 12-inch disc to the top of the tube attached to the 5-inch disc using the same gluing method. Then attach the second tube on top of the 12-inch tube. Glue the 9-inch disc on top.

Step 3 Trim

To add the trim, cut the cardstock into 1-inch strips that is long enough to cover the edge of the 12-inch and 9-inch discs. Use the edge punch to add a scalloped edge. If you do not have an edge punch, use pinking shears for the edge design. Attach each strip to each disc with adhesive dots or glue. For the 5-inch base cut and attach a 1/4-inch-wide strip of cardstock.
