Making the Rounds

Create your own take on distinctive ornamental allium blossoms using
dip-dyed cotton swabs and plastic-foam balls to make these shapely purple flower heads.

Gather your supplies: cotton swabs, scissors, a plastic-foam ball, gel food dye, and an artificial flower stem (with wire inside).

Cut cotton swabs an inch from each end; discard middles. Push cut ends of swabs into the plastic-foam ball, spacing swabs 1/4" apart.

Dip swab-covered ball into the gel food dye; rotate to cover all swabs. Let dry for 24 hours, rotating during drying time. Push artificial flower stem into ball as shown above.
