DIY Wood Silhouette Art

Take a walk off the beaten path with this nature-inspired project that will remind you of the great outdoors.

Enjoy the beauty of nature-inspired motifs without leaving the comfort of your home. Stencil a fox, mushroom, and botanical print onto tree branch segments that are available as precut slices so there's no need for a saw. With our easy-to-follow instructions, you'll be able to do this nature-inspired craft yourself!

Step 1

First, trace desired branch, fox, or mushroom onto stencil plastic using a black fine-tip permanent marking pen. Feel free to use one of our patterns or freehand a silhouette of your favorite backyard tree or beloved pet.

Step 2

Next, place the traced stencil plastic pattern on top of a piece of glass. Cut out stencil with an electric stencil cutter. Note: The glass will protect your work surface.

Step 3

Finally, when all lines have been cut with the electric cutter, remove the portion inside the cut lines and use the exterior portion as the stencil. Paint with bright colors to make your pattern pop off the wood slice, or stick to neutrals for a more subtle statement.
