What You'll Need
- 36- or 38-gauge felting needle
- White wool roving
- Orange wool roving
- Black wool roving
- Pink wool roving
- Black toy eyes
- Super glue
Step 1: Form the Body
Pull off about a 10-inch length of cream wool roving; roll into a bundle for the body of the fox. Wrap in orange wool roving, leaving the front area cream. Poke with the felting needle until you've achieved the correct shape. For the head, pull off a 3/4-inch length of orange roving and felt into a circular shape.
Step 2: Add the Details
Pinch off small amounts of orange for the ears, rolling and felting into triangular shapes. Add cream roving to the insides of the ears. Attach the ears to the top of the head by poking with the felting needle. Shape the pointed nose of the fox, and add a bit of cream wool to either side of the fox's face.
Pinch off the tiniest bit for a little black nose; attach to the tip of the fox's pointed face with the felting needle. Attach the head to the top of the fox's body using the felting needle. Make sure to attach all around.
Step 3: Finish the Body
Pull off about 2-inch lengths of orange for the fox's arms. Roll into a tube shape and felt until semi-firm, then attach both arms to either side of the fox with felting needle.
For the tail, pull a length of about 7- to 8-inches of cream roving; fold and needle felt into shape. Wrap around a bit of orange and felt the layer in, leaving tip of the tail cream. Attach to body with felting needle.
Step 4: Add the Face
Add smile with black roving. Use the needle to create the curve of the smile. For the pink cheeks, simply drag the needle carefully across the surface and felt in a small amount of pink wool roving.
Create small channels with felting needle for black glass eyes to poke through. Glue eyes into place and let dry.
