Glitter and tape (added with our foolproof method), pretty up a basic glass cookie jar. Here's how to put your cookies on display on the cheap.
Cookie jars tempt us with their tasty contents, but sometimes they're a bit plain on the outside. Make yours into a standout kitchen counter accessory with glitter and colorful tape. We'll show you how in three easy steps—including how to make sure your tape is wrinkle-free! And if you need more glass jar decorating ideas, we've rounded up a few of our favorites below.
Carefully mask out three lines around the jar with painter's tape. (These will form the thin outer stripes.) Smooth out any bumps or bubbles in the tape with a plastic card.
Apply decoupage with a narrow paintbrush or small foam brush. Layer on fine glitter in desired color, tapping and shaking gently to remove any excess. It's best to do this over a sheet of Kraft paper or old newspapers for easy clean up. Let dry before removing the tape to reveal perfectly formed lines!
If desired, add a line of colorful washi tape between the two glitter stripes. For a holiday look, use washi tape in a pattern to match the occasion. Fill with cookies and enjoy!
