If you frequently enjoy crab salad sandwiches, this is your chance to skip the store-bought stuff and make your own. This crab salad recipe only requires a handful of ingredients and comes together in 15 minutes. For seasoning, we enjoy fresh chives or dill for some bright herbal notes, but you can easily omit or add more. The best part about this crab salad recipe is that it tastes amazing with both fresh lump crabmeat or imitation crab meat. Allow the crab salad to chill at least an hour before serving and enjoy within 3 days for best quality.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise

  • 3 tbsp shallot, finely chopped (about 1 medium)

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

  • 1 tablespoon chives or dill

  • 1 teaspoon dijon mustard

  • 3/4 teaspoon old bay seasoning

  • 1 pound crabmeat (fresh or imitation)

  • 1/2 cup celery, finely chopped

  • 1/4 tsp salt and black pepper, to taste

Directions

  1. In a medium bowl combine mayonnaise, shallot, lemon juice, chives, mustard, and Old Bay seasoning. If using imitation crabmeat, chop into bite-sized pieces. Add crab meat and celery, toss to coat. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Chill at least 1 hour before serving. One serving is ½ cup.
