Spice-Ball Ornament

Add spice to the evergreen scent with clove-studded ribbon balls reminiscent of orange pomanders.

What You Need:

Spice ball ornaments surround an equally beautiful ribbon kimono ornament.
  • 40 inches of light 3/8-inch-wide Offray satin ribbon
  • 40 inches of dark 3/8-inch-wide Offray satin ribbon
  • 3-inch-diameter plastic-foam ball
  • Sequin pins
  • Whole cloves
  • Crafts glue
  • 10-inch length of metallic gold cording

Instructions:

1. Pin one end of the dark or light ribbon to the plastic-foam ball. Wrap the ball with the ribbon, leaving even spaces for the other ribbon and cloves. Pin the end of the ribbon to the opposite end of the ball.

2. Pin the end of the light or dark ribbon to the end of the ball. Evenly wrap the ribbon around the ball, leaving spaces for cloves. End off the ribbon with a pin at the opposite end of the ball.

3. Dip the pointed ends of the whole cloves in crafts glue; poke the cloves into the foam sections. Continue until the ball is covered by stripes of ribbons and stripes of cloves.

4. Tie a loop with gold cording; pin the loop to one end of the ball.
