Painted Wooden Stocking Christmas Ornament

Patterned paper and paint transform a plain wooden ornament into a Christmas ornament with personality.
  • Wooden stocking ornament with jingle bells
  • Acrylic crafts paints: red and white
  • 1/2-inch-wide artist's paintbrush
  • Patterned paper
  • Crafts glue
  • Krylon Crystal Clear Glaze
  • Hot-glue gun and hotmelt adhesive
  • 1-inch-wide red satin ribbon

How to Make It

1. Unscrew the screw eyes that attach jingle bells to stocking ornaments; set aside. Paint the stocking bright red and the stocking cuff white; let dry.

2. Trace the ornament shape onto patterned paper; cut out. Brush a coat of crafts glue onto the stocking and adhere the paper cutout in place; let dry. Apply two or three coats of glaze to the entire stocking front, letting it dry between coats.

3. Reattach the jingle bells. Cut a length of satin ribbon, form a loop, and hot-glue the ends in place on the stocking cuff. Cut another length of satin ribbon, tie in a bow, and hot-glue in place.
