What You Need

  • 2 different plaid fabrics
  • Fabric scissors
  • Hot glue gun
  • Hot glue sticks
  • Plain glass or plastic ornaments
  • Desired embellishments (bows, evergreen sprigs, stickers, etc.)

Step 1: Cut Fabric

Gather all materials. Then cut strips of each type of fabric long enough to wrap around your ornaments. We cut our strips 6-8 inches long.

Step 2: Wrap and Glue

Heat up your hot glue gun. Then wrap fabric around the balls, hot gluing into place as you go. If you're using plastic ornaments, make sure to use a low heat setting on your glue gun to avoid melting the plastic. Use your fingers to smooth out edges and corners of the fabric, and try to hide the ends of the fabric strips on the underside of the glass ball. Trim any excess fabric strings.

Step 3: Embellish and Hang

Hot glue desired embellishments to the front of the ornament. We love the look of bows, evergreen cuttings, small pinecones, glitter, and letters. Add the top hook to the ornament, then hang a collection of finished ornaments on a mantel or tree, as desired.
