Try making a paper flower garland.

What You'll Need

  • Assorted wrapping papers
  • Fringe scissors
  • Waxed thread
  • Embroidery needle

Step 1: Prepare the Paper

Cut wrapping papers into long 2"-wide strips. Try using a variety of colored and textured papers. We love a mix of traditional Christmas papers with metallic papers and glittery paper. Fold in half lengthwise. Fringe open edges using fringe scissors, leaving about ¼" along the fold. Unfold. Repeat for all strips.

Step 2: Assemble

Sew long running stitches down the centers. Gently pull and twist paper down thread to gather sections. Add fringed paper to desired length. Try making this garland for other holidays. Use red, white, and blue paper for a patriotic display or try shades of pink for Valentine's Day.
