This take on the classic popcorn garland will last year after year thanks to fluffy wool felt and ruby red poms. Stitch and boil the wool for a realistic popcorn look that will make your tree pop.
What You'll Need
- White 100% wool felt
- Waxed thread
- Embroidery needle
- Boiling water
- 1- and 1½-centimeter red wool felt pom-poms
Step 1: Cut and Sew
Cut multiple 10" strips of white felt 1" to 2" wide. Keep the edges wavy and uneven. Sew long zigzagging stitches down the center length of the felt, pulling tightly to bunch felt as you go. (The stitches will make bunches uneven.) Repeat on each 10" section until you have enough to make desired length.
Step 2: Boil
Drop wool into boiling water and agitate with spoon for 1–2 minutes to shrink. (Only 100% wool felt will shrink.) Remove from water and let your "popcorn" dry.
Step 3: String and Hang
String wool popcorn and red pom-poms on thread, alternating randomly.
