What You'll Need:

  • Terrarium ornament
  • Sand
  • Fake snow
  • Mini Christmas tree
  • Elf figurines
  • Miniature benches and chairs
  • Tweezers

Step 1: Add Sand

Cover the bottom of your terrarium with a layer or two of sand. Look for white sand at your local craft supply store. This provides a steady base for all of the aspects of the elf scene. To add wintry flair, add a layer of fake snow on top of the sand. If you can't find fake snow, coarse sugar or salt is a fun alternative.

Step 2: Set the scene

Use tweezers to set your scene. Add the mini Christmas tree figurine, the benches and chairs, plus your elves. Depending on how your elves are made, you can use your tweezers to pose them. Look for small elf figurines or try making them out of modeling clay. Is your elf waving "hello" or high fiving his elf pals?
