No-bake clay makes these gift tags an easy (and cute!) Christmas project. These tags can be tied to presents to give them a pop of color, and then friends and family can keep the tag as a special Christmas ornament!
Roll out self-drying clay onto wax paper, creating a layer approximately 1/4-inch thick. Use holiday cookie cutters to cut out designs, or use non-holiday shapes to personalize tags all year long!
Use dowel rods to create various designs on the clay before it dries; cover the whole tree in varied dots or create a strung garland of circles. Then, use a straw to poke a hole in the top of the shape. Allow the tags to dry overnight in a well-ventilated area. Flip the clay shapes halfway through the drying process.
Once the tags are completely dry, paint each with a layer of chalk paint and let dry for 20 minutes. Some colors may require a second coat; let dry 20 minutes before and after adding additional paint.
Use puff paint to fill the designs you created with the dowel; add more or less paint for a varied ornament pattern. Let the painted embellishments dry overnight before attaching these adorable tags to a gift.
Add bakers twine to these adorable tags and secure to the ribbon of a Christmas gift. After opening the gift, the reciever can hang the tag on their tree!
