The Emmy-nominated actress and red carpet favorite on her (surprisingly minimal!) off-duty beauty routine.
8 A.M. I have to wake up at 5 on days when Modern Family is shooting, so it's nice to be able to sleep in a little on off days.
8:05 A.M. Have coffee and eat something light like a banana. Then I work out -- usually Pilates.
9 A.M. Make myself a protein shake.
9:10 A.M. Shower. I have to do all kinds of things to my hair for my job, so I need something that nourishes my scalp but isn't harsh. I use Head & Shoulders Nourishing Shampoo and Conditioner ($4.99 each; headandshoulders.com), which also has a nice lavender scent.
9:25 A.M. After I get out, I use coconut oil on my body, wrap my hair in a towel, and put on sunscreen (Obagi Sun Shield Mineral SPF 50, $51.50, lovelyskin.com).
9:30 A.M. I've changed the way I do my makeup as I've gotten older -- maybe you realize at a certain point that using tons of black around the eyes doesn't look as good. I start with foundation applied with a sponge (Beautyblender royal makeup sponge, $20, beautyblender.com). Then I do brown eyeliner and a little bit of eyeshadow in the crease. I always finish with mascara (Covergirl LashBlast Volume Mascara, $8.99, drugstore.com) since my eyelashes are blonde.
9:37 A.M. If you haven't gotten a lot of sleep, color on the lips is good. It calls attention to your lips, and people forget about the rest. I like mauve (Covergirl Outlast Longwear Lipstick in Magnetic Mauve, $8.99, covergirl.com) for everyday and reds and pinks for events.
9:38 A.M. I dry my hair using a Mason Pearson brush ($150; beauty.com).
10:15 A.M. Put on jeans and a T-shirt or a sweater -- and always heels.
10:30 A.M. Turn off my coffeemaker and head out for meetings or to see friends.
