Dressing for the Day
Our family usually does a fairly casual late lunch, and then we are off either to a dinner with extended family or to get a head start on Black Friday shopping. This means I always need a polished yet still comfortable and versatile outfit that can withstand the day. Also, being in the South, I never really know what the temperature will be, so layering options are key! I'm loving the dressed-up jogger pants trend, and Thanksgiving is the perfect time to try it out -- let's be honest, we all love a good elastic waist, especially on Thanksgiving! Here's how I styled my jogger pants for a casual holiday outfit that is polished and functional for a fun day with family.
What Are Jogger Pants?
I scored these jogger pants at Target a few months back (similar Target option) and have been wearing them ever since. The trend can be a bit daunting since they have traditionally been worn as athletic wear, but the new fabric options and refined shape really make them an everyday piece that you can easily work into your closet. I love their versatility and how you can truly dress them up, wear them semi-casually, or totally dress them down. The silhouette is comfortable (elastic waist and not fitted through the legs), but still flattering since the cut is slim and the pant tapers at the ankle.
How to Style Them for a Full Day of Thanksgiving Fun!
To make these work for our family Thanksgiving lunch, I paired them with my favorite plaid button-up and added a denim jacket for a layering option. To dress it up a bit more, I wore my leopard heels for one more pattern play, and anchored the look with a neutral bag. This outfit can take me through a Thanksgiving lunch (not having to worry about a second helping with my elastic waist) and then to a Thanksgiving dinner (consider adding a statement necklace to dress it up) and even to some Black Friday sales (dressed down in my comfiest flats), which is what I call a versatile look!
