All About the Ribbon

Clasp your program together with a big bow. Simply make your booklet and punch two holes along the fold line. Then feed your ribbon through the holes and top it off with a pretty bow.

Tip: Using thicker ribbon will create a dramatic effect for a bow. If you want to cut back on the ribbon, just tie a pretty knot and trim the ends so they don't fray.

2/19
Embellish with Buttons

Top off this simple program with buttons matching your color scheme. Simply hot-glue the buttons onto the card stock and you're done!

Tip: If you want an extra-special touch, hand-sew each button to the program -- just make sure you leave plenty of time to make them.

3/19
Simply Square

This easy program was inspired by a 6-x-6-inch scrapbook paper pad. We backed the patterned paper with solid card stock then used large brads to clasp together the booklet.

Tip: Use a 1/8-inch punch to make the holes for the large brads.

4/19
Elegant Leaves

To make this program we kept it simple, showing off the pretty leaf card stock. By keeping the name tag small, we highlight the pattern even more.

Tip: When dealing with thicker card stock, use ribbon to hold together the program.

5/19
Simple Stitches

Give your programs a handmade look with the help of your sewing machine. Choose a thread that will pop off the program and show your handiwork.

Tip: You can keep it simple with just one line of stitches or go all the way around the text layer.

6/19
A Vintage Touch

We couldn't resist these vintage-inspired bird stamps to give a retro vibe to our program. We used a chocolate color ink to stamp the birds, then used colored pencils to add a touch of color to the program.

Tip: Choose your fonts according to the feel of your program. We went with a cute, casual script for this program to complement the birds.

7/19
A Program of Paper Strips

This program is all about the paper. We used scrapbook paper that lent itself to be cut in strips. After slicing the paper, we glued the strips to the programs then wrapped them along the back of the program.

Tip: Choose paper with a strong pattern. Then add a complementary card stock for the other layers.

8/19
Pop of Color

Add a dash of color to your program with a pretty die-cut. Check out your local crafts or scrapbooking stores for an array of die-cut choices.

Tip: Be creative when folding your booklets. Think beyond the typical shapes of programs and make them long, narrow, or horizontal.

9/19
An Elegant Lace Program

Add lace to your program for an elegant look. To make it, spray the lace with adhesive glue and place the lace on the card stock. Once dry, trim the edges of the lace to create a clean line.

Tip: Choose lace with an interesting border like the lace we used.

10/19
Mark It with Your Initial

Put your stamp on your program with a homemade grommet. To make it, print your initial on card stock that's one shade darker than your program (printing sheet of letters saves time). Trace around the tag rim, centering the letter inside. Cut around the inside of your line. Place the letter inside the tag; it should fit nice and snug. Hot-glue the homemade grommet to the invitation.

Tip: Use a circle punch that fits the size of the tag rim to save time and get perfect circles.

11/19
Keep It Simple

For this easy program simply use a 1/8-inch hole punch to make a hole for the fabric brad.

Tip: For modern twist on your text layer, print tone on tone like we did with the "&."

12/19
Asian Inspired

To make this program we folded this pretty paper with an Asian twist into a 6-6-inch booklet. To complete the look we layered brown card stock with a pink text layer.

Tip: Using paper with a fun flair will set your programs apart from the rest.

13/19
Make It Pretty with Stickers

This is the perfect program to make in mass production. Check out your local crafts or scrapbooking store for rolls of stickers. We found the perfect leaf pattern for a wedding. Print your text on card stock and adhere the sticker. It only takes a few minutes per program.

Tip: Turn your program horizontal for a different look.

14/19
A Pretty Punch

This program is all about the punch. Shop your local crafts or scrapbooking store for the perfect punches. Then punch the invitation along the edge of the text layer, allowing the contrasting color to shine through.

Tip: Punches come in all sizes and designs. Find one that matches the style of wedding you are having, then get punching.

15/19
A Layered Look

We went for the layered look for this program. We started with a pretty polka-dot patterned paper as the base then layered solid complementary color card stock on top.

Tip: Adding layers in complementary colors adds depth to your program.

16/19
All About the Type

This is program is super simple. Just pick out a font you love, then print your text layer using contrasting colors. To finish, glue the text layer to solid card stock.

Tip: Be creative with your type. Whether you do it in lowercase or all caps, out-of-the-ordinary type will add a lot of personality to your program.

17/19
Set It Apart with Handmade Paper

Handmade paper can be a beautiful part of do-it-yourself programs. To make this program, we printed our text onto the card stock, then wrapped the handmade paper around the booklet.

Tip: Use double-stick tape to attach the handmade paper to the card stock. Glue may bleed through the delicate paper.

18/19
Simple and Elegant Paper

This program is fashioned from a pretty paper. Choose paper that has a light pattern but is still readable when you print over it. Then back that layer with a simple cream card stock.

Tip: Keep your type large enough to read when printing over a patterned paper.
