The Fancy, Simple Appetizer Recipe You Must Know: Bruschetta

It's the ideal appetizer. Bruschetta is flavorful and easy to make. And our favorite recipe features gorgeous tomatoes and fresh basil. Let's start adding some fresh herbs to a tablespoon of olive oil. Add one tablespoon of snipped fresh chives, and one tablespoon of snipped fresh basil, then add one tablespoon of lemon juice, and one clove of minced garlic. Stir it well. Next, add two cups of seeded and chopped plum or yellow tomatoes, and a half cup of finely chopped red onion. Stir gently. Then, season with salt and pepper to taste, and set aside. Next, cut one 8-ounce loaf of baguette-style French bread into 36 slices. Arrange them on two large baking trays. Lightly brush one side with olive oil. Place the first baking sheet about three to four inches from the broiler until the bread is toasted. It should take about two to three minutes. Use tongs to turn the bread slices. Broil the other side until they're toasted, about one to two minutes. Repeat with the other tray. Once all the bread slices are toasted, it's time to assemble the bruschetta. Spoon mounds of the tomato mixture on to the oiled side of the toast. For a finishing touch, garnish the platter with fresh basil leaves or ribbons. You'll want to serve the bruschetta within 30 minutes or they begin to get soggy. But don't worry. They taste too good to last that long.
