Pretty Strawberry Dessert: Six-Layer Strawberry Cake
Fresh strawberries are the crown jewel of our exquisite six-layer cake recipe that features a delicious cream cheese frosting inside and out!
-This stunning 6-layer strawberry cake is an impressive dessert. Layers of moist, light strawberry buttermilk cake are topped with cream cheese frosting and fresh strawberries for a cake that looks and tastes spectacular. Here's how to assemble the cake. Use a long serrated knife to slice each of the 3 cake layers in half horizontally. A baking turnstile helps to ensure an even cut. Place 1 cake layer cut side up on a serving plate. You'll be using pink frosting for the inside layers and the white frosting on the outside. Fold 1/3 cup of chopped strawberries into 5 cups of frosting. Spread 1 cup of pink frosting on top of the cake then place another cake layer cut side down on top of the frosting and spread it with another cup of the pink frosting and repeat the process with 3 more cake layers and pink frosting. Finish with a final cake layer cut side down. Insert 4 long wooden skewers vertically into the cake so that the layers don't slide. Loosely wrap the cake with plastic wrap and chill it in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Now you're ready to frost the outside of the cake. Spread 3 cups of the white frosting on the sides. If you like, you can lightly press 1-1/2 cups of flaked coconut into the frosting. Remove the skewers. Now frost the top of the cake with the remaining white frosting. To make it look even prettier, garnish the top with fresh strawberries and a few white chocolate curls. And as beautiful as that is, it will look even better when you slice into it to reveal all those layers of white and pink inside. Just be sure to chill the cake for an hour before serving it and slice it while it's cold. Now how's that for a really special cake?
