Tired of the same old pumpkin pie, give it a wow factor with three easy tweaks. Add a little spark to your favorite crust with nuts. Press them toasted chopped nuts into the bottom of the pastry before you bake it. We love pecans and almonds but if you wanna get outside the traditional flavor route, give pistachios or even peanut to try. Replace some of your pumpkin puree with sweet potato puree. For about two cups of puree, simply bake two medium sweet potatoes in a 325 degree oven for about an hour and a half, let them cool, peel them and then puree in a blender or food processor until smooth. Try a fun new toping. Nut brittles are everywhere come holiday time, simply crash up the larger pieces and tumble on top. Not only is it beautiful, it adds a fabulous crunch.
