Trend Spotting with BHG: Bicolor Flowers
Bicolor floweres are hot this year.
I just got back from the California Pack Trials, which is a Spring fashion show for the plant industry where breeders and growers show off all their latest and greatest varieties. One of the things I noticed, and that I think gardeners are gonna see a lot of in stores this year, are bicolored flowers. Bicolored flowers are great because they give you not one, but two colors to work with. So, they're really versatile in designs. But even on their own, they're fascinating-- often much more so than a solid color. Here's Lemon Slice, a great new Calibrachoa. Candy Cane Verbena has this great red and white stripes. Patchwork Impatiens has this great star pattern on its face. And here's a sneak peek at the 2014 introduction. It's a Verbena series called Twister, and it's like no other you've seen. So, try some bicolors this year. It's like getting two plants in one.
