How to Bake Apples
A delicious baked apple can be a surprisingly indulgent treat – especially during fall harvest season. Watch as we show you how to cook apples for optimal flavor starting with choosing the apple and topping it off with a scoop of ice cream.
-Let's get right to the core of it. Here's how to bake apples for delicious results. First to choose a good baking apple variety such as Braeburn, Jonagold, Granny Smith and Jonathan hold the best during cooking. Start by cutting a slice from the stem end of the apple. Using a melon baller, remove the apple core leaving the basin intact so that it can contain the filling. Place the cord apples in a baking dish and stuff with you favorite filling. I'm using snipped dried fruit walnuts, brown sugar, cinnamon and a bit of butter. Pour liquid into the baking dish around the apples to help them steam. I'm just using water but you could also use fruit juice. Bake apples at 375 degrees for about 45 minutes or until tender, spooning liquid over the apples occasionally. Remove apples from the oven and enjoy while they're still warm. For a delicious way to get your apple a day.
