Painting cookies can range from child's play to an artistic statement. Look here for great tips.
An easy way to decorate cut-out cookies before they are baked is to brush them with egg paint, a mixture of egg yolk, water, and paste with coloring. Use a small water color paintbrush to paint on the various colors. Put only a small amount of paint on the brush. If the egg paint thickens while you're working with it, stir in a little water a drop at a time. Clean the brush between colors using clean water. If you're using more than 1 color, leave a narrow strip of cookie between painted areas so the colors don't run together.
