There's a fine line between a tender, melt-in-your-mouth sugar cookie and a hard, overdone one. Here's how to tell when sugar cookies are ready to come out of the oven.
When baking sugar cookies, it's not easy to tell from the top side when they're done. You want to bake until edges are firm and bottoms are lightly browned. Baking time will vary slightly depending on size of cutter; large ones taking longer to bake. Transfer cookies to wire rack and let them cool completely before frosting or storing.
