Your home office, is it a pile of files with no room to actually work? Well, it's time to get organized with organizing expert Ellen Damaschino. Today, she's gonna help you clear the clutter so you can see your desk again. The biggest problem with most people's office space is that they stick it in the corner of their basement, they forget about it, and it gets junky and cluttered. The best thing you can do is make sure that you have a big enough space to work on. Also, you want to have adequate storage for the small items that kind of invade your desk, paper, pencil, CDs. Most people have those on top of their desks and it just takes over. And, finally, make sure that if you have 2 or 3 people working at a desk, that that desk space is big enough for 2 or 3 people. Most people have like a small hutch or a little corner desk and it doesn't really work for the whole family. Here we are in a typical home office. We have a room that you're using for multipurpose space. We've got some craft area, we've got some dresser area, but what we really need to focus on today is this. This is your desk area. Is this working for you? No, and we're really cramped, there's too many of us using it, and, yeah, it's, we need some more. I got some great furniture from Ikea. We're gonna move all this stuff out, we're gonna move all this cool, new stuff in because you need to honor your space even if it's in the basement, so let's get started. This is gonna be so easy to put together. We're literally just screwing on the legs. Just so we don't have to take apart everything off the desk, the easiest thing to do is fix the table up first and then we can just transition all the electronics right on to this table and we'll take the old hutch out. So, let's put it this way. What do you think? It's nice. Yey. Much better. This is empty, we're not even using this. Correct. So, we're gonna take this and the hutch out so we're down to only 1 file cabinet. So, let's move the file cabinet we're gonna use over here and then we'll take the old furniture out. And I've got accessories for you because this is really important when you're doing an office. I got all this stuff at Ikea, and what we really needed was paper, things for your paper. You've got paper spilling out of everything so we put some on that great drawer we got. I got some great colored pencils because I know your girls use this desk a lot. And I've got some nice magazine folders for you to stick things in until you process it. And, what would any new desk be without cute file folders? So, we've got a stadium file here with cute file folders, and this is for all your CDs. These were stacked in that hutch, hidden in there, and now you have a place to put everything. Super simple, interesting ideas. This desk space is almost done. Let's get this stuff in. Out with the old, and we're gonna add new. So, here we are, 30 minutes later, and we have a great home office for your whole family. It's a great space now. We have a large desk that the whole family can use, we have drawers and we can put all of your paper and your small things in it, we got some great looking stylish file folders, some pens, and now, this basement is really a place that you wanna come to and work on your computer. It is. So, that's it. Thirty minutes or less. Thank you, Ikea. I'm Ellen Damaschino for Better. A big thanks to Ellen. You've helped us organize just about every room in the home this week.
