" For an artistic accent in your home, try this. This project idea imitates that look of mercury glass, which highly collectible, but can sometimes be a little expensive. You're gonna achieve the same look with a clear glass vase from the crafts store and spray paint. We're gonna make this look a little more interesting there by adding some decals to it. You start with a piece of plain contact paper just like [unk] from the drugstore. Cut out some basic shapes that you love. Start with circles or squares, something easy. Peel them off, and place them in the vase, wherever you'd like. Make sure to press them around the edges, nice and firmly so the paint doesn't sip underneath. Contact paper is great to use for this project because it's soft and pliable and plastic and easy to peel off when you're done spraying. Now, you can use whatever color you want. If you want silver to imitate mercury glass, that's great. We're also gonna try this one in bronze to give a little different look. Hold your spray paint out to the side a little bit and just get the feel for how it's going to spray. If you're a little uncomfortable with this, you can test it first in a glass jar, maybe from spaghetti sauce, or something in the kitchen. Put a nice, even coat inside. Let the paint dry thoroughly and then peel your circles off. This is not the kind of project where you're gonna want to put water and fresh flowers inside, but it's great for dried flowers and ornamentals like curly willow. It's also a great idea for votive candles. You can put it in a bottom and then watch it glow through the open circles."
