" Uhuh."

" So, I'm gonna go ahead and get up on to my ladder here, and I always like to work from the top down. Okay! It just makes it a lot easier, and what we can do is just come right in, and we're gonna actually have Kathleen come in and roll, but this way, it will give her a little bit of material. She doesn't have to press so hard in order to get this paint to flow out of the roller, so again, up, Down, up. That's it! A lot of people put too much energy. Now, you dip, you wiggle, and you pat, and we're gonna go ahead and take our brush, unload just a little bit and we're to come right across our 43 cutting line. Now, remember we put in our channel there before and we're cutting right along the channel. You notice how I turn the brush to this side? Dip, wiggle, pat, and now, go ahead back and forth; only three strokes. You noticed I've covered it in 3 strokes, and as soon as I get about all 4 to 5 feet ahead, I'm gonna go ahead. So again, dump, set, lay. Dip, wiggle, pat, and come in and now cut in right along the edge of the paint. Let the brush do the work. A lot of you guys have a tendency to overwork the tool, and this is a problem. So, if you noticed, I'm just being very gentle coming right along and the paint is not getting up on the ceiling and that's really the whole secret of working together. It's finding your groove, okay, and just keep following the same technique over and over again. Now, notice also the last stroke that I did there was up. Why? `Cause paint wants to flow down, and this way now I'm evening it out as I go. So, let's show to load. Now, the first thing you do with the roller like this, is just start at the top, moving, you pick a little paint up and do this; tappy, tappy, tappy. Now, the grate is really an important little thing because it forces up the paint into the roller itself. It also takes any excess out. So that you're not gonna get drippy, drippy."

" Okay."

" No drippy, drippies. Okay, we don't like that. Okay, again, I'm gonna help you out. Up."

" Yah! Why don't you do this line right here next to that."

" I can do that, okay."

" You know--"

" I'm working actually."

" I'm getting to be the trained professional."

" I'm actually working on the wrong side for me, but watch and I'm gonna turn over. Here we go, and what you wanna do is just very gently. See, I don't have to press hard because we already have the color there. See, how that works?"

" Yeah."

" Pretty simple, huh."

" Uhuh. So it's just like, it's green!"

" And I can already tell that my green is dry and darker."

" Yah."

" Because that was a concern when you originally opened up your can, don't freak out."

" Yes."

" Having the fundamental rules of how to work with the tool, how to lay the material down properly, how to get the prepping. This is all important stuff because this is the eye candy. This is what you all want. It's really about how we prepare and then the product, and then you get all the performance you want. You want this really beautiful wall. You want nice colors and all that, and you can do that with a little bit of time and a lot of preparation. You can really make the paint come alive in the room."
